undertaker
Prepares the deceased
An undertaker is a person who prepares dead bodies for burial and arranges funerals.
The term was once standard but has largely given way to funeral director, which sounds more professional and less blunt about the business of handling corpses: The undertaker came to collect the body.
The word retains its older feel in period fiction and rural usage.
