flume

Logging water channel

A flume is an artificial channel for directing water, typically a wooden trough or chute used in mining, logging, or irrigation.

Water flumes once carried logs down mountainsides.

At amusement parks, a flume is a water ride where boats travel through such channels: The log flume splashed everyone in the front row.

A flume can also be a natural gorge with a stream running through it.
