Highway's painted divider
The centerline is an imaginary or marked line running through the middle of something—a road, a court, a ship's hull, an aircraft fuselage.
In driving, the centerline divides opposing lanes of traffic: Don't cross the centerline.
In sports, it splits the playing field into halves.
In technical drawings, centerlines indicate axes of symmetry.
