tolerance

Capacity for differences

Tolerance is the capacity to accept or endure something, especially opinions or behaviors different from one's own: religious tolerance, tolerance for dissent.

In medicine and pharmacology, tolerance is the body's diminished response to a substance after repeated exposure: He had built up a tolerance to the painkillers.

Engineering uses tolerance for the allowable deviation from a standard: manufacturing tolerances.

To have a high or low tolerance for something is to handle more or less of it before reaching your limit: I have zero tolerance for rudeness.
