aft
Ship's rear section
Aft means toward or at the rear of a ship or aircraft—the opposite of fore.
As an adjective, it describes things located in that area: the aft cabin, the aft deck.
As an adverb, it indicates direction: We moved aft to check the engine.
The word belongs almost exclusively to nautical and aviation contexts.
