Bisecting vertical reference
Midline is an imaginary vertical line dividing the body into left and right halves, running from the top of the head through the nose and navel.
Medical and anatomical contexts use it as a reference point: The incision was made at the midline.
More broadly, any central dividing line: The midline of the road.
