longitudinal
Running end-to-end
Longitudinal means running lengthwise—along the longest dimension of something.
A longitudinal stripe runs from end to end rather than across.
In research, a longitudinal study follows the same subjects over an extended period, tracking changes through time rather than comparing different groups at a single moment.
