passing
Moving on through
Passing describes movement by or through something, or the act of going past.
A passing car goes by; passing time moves forward.
Something done in passing happens briefly or incidentally: He mentioned it in passing.
Passing also means the end of something—a passing era, or death itself: We mourned her passing.
In sports, passing moves the ball to teammates.
A passing grade barely meets the standard.
To pass as something is to be accepted as that thing, especially when the identity is assumed: a light-skinned Black person passing as white, a transgender woman passing as cisgender.
