bowman

Draws a longbow

A bowman is an archer—someone who uses a bow and arrows.

The term appears in historical and fantasy contexts more than everyday speech: The castle walls were manned by bowmen.

In boating, the bowman is the crew member stationed at the bow (front) of the vessel, handling lines and anchors during docking. (Capitalized Bowman is a surname.)
