knights
Mounted medieval warriors
Knights is the plural of knight—originally a mounted warrior of medieval Europe who served a lord in exchange for land.
Knights wore armor, followed codes of chivalry, and figure prominently in tales of castles and quests.
The title survived as an honor: He was knighted by the Queen.
In chess, knights are pieces that move in an L-shape, the only ones that can jump over others.
