gunner

One who fires artillery

A gunner is someone who operates a gun, especially a military crew member who fires artillery, machine guns, or aircraft weapons.

In sports, particularly basketball, a gunner is a player who shoots frequently, sometimes to a fault: He's a talented gunner but needs to pass more.

In British English, a gunner is a private in the Royal Artillery.
