Cupid

Cherub with bow

Cupid is the Roman god of erotic love, equivalent to the Greek Eros.

Mythology depicts him as the son of Venus, armed with arrows that cause whoever they strike to fall in love.

His name comes from the Latin word for desire.

In art, Cupid ranges from a mischievous winged boy to a handsome youth: Cupid and Psyche is one of mythology's great love stories. (Lowercase cupid refers to artistic representations or someone matchmaking.)
