sight

What eyes provide

Sight is the faculty of seeing—one of the five senses.

A sight is something seen, especially something notable or worth seeing: the sights of Paris, What a sight!

It can also mean something unsightly: I look a sight.

The sights of a firearm are the device you look through to aim.

At first sight means upon initial viewing.

To sight something is to see it, especially after searching: We finally sighted land.

Out of sight means not visible, or in slang, extraordinary: That concert was out of sight.
