acceptance

Saying yes graciously

Acceptance is the act of receiving something offered or agreeing to something proposed: acceptance of a job offer, acceptance of an apology.

It extends to approval or favorable reception: The theory gained wide acceptance.

In a more personal sense, acceptance means coming to terms with difficult realities rather than fighting them: acceptance of loss, radical acceptance.

An acceptance is also a formal agreement to pay a draft or bill of exchange.
