admission
Confession or entrance
Admission is the act of being allowed entry or the fee required for it: Admission to the museum is free on Sundays.
It also means acknowledgment of something typically unfavorable: His silence was an admission of guilt.
By extension, admission covers acceptance into an institution: college admissions, hospital admission.
To gain admission is to be let in, physically or figuratively.
