creed
Formal belief declaration
A creed is a formal statement of religious belief, such as the Apostles' Creed or the Nicene Creed recited in Christian services.
More broadly, it refers to any set of guiding principles or beliefs: artistic creed, political creed.
The word implies a system of convictions held with some conviction or formality: His creed was simple: work hard, treat people fairly. (Capitalized Creed may refer to the band or a surname.)
