forgiveness of sins
Mercy for transgressions
Forgiveness of sins is a Christian theological concept in which God pardons human wrongdoing, releasing the sinner from guilt and its consequences.
Central to Christian doctrine, it is obtained through faith, repentance, and—in Catholic tradition—sacramental confession.
The phrase appears in the Apostles' Creed and Nicene Creed as an article of belief: I believe in the forgiveness of sins.
