coexistence
Sharing space peacefully
Coexistence is the state of existing together, especially when the parties involved might otherwise be in conflict or competition.
The term gained prominence during the Cold War as peaceful coexistence, describing the uneasy but nonviolent relationship between capitalist and communist nations.
More broadly, it applies to any situation where different groups, species, or ideas occupy the same space without one eliminating the other: The coexistence of wolves and livestock remains controversial in ranching communities.
