orthodoxy
Adherence to tradition
Orthodoxy is adherence to established or traditional beliefs, especially in religion.
The orthodox position is the accepted, mainstream one—what most believers or authorities consider correct.
The word often appears in contrast to heresy or heterodoxy: She questioned the orthodoxy of her church.
More broadly, orthodoxy can mean any conventional wisdom or standard view: economic orthodoxy, challenging the orthodoxy of her field.
An orthodoxy is a particular set of such accepted beliefs.
