forbearance
Patient self-control
Forbearance is patient self-control, especially the restraint from responding to provocation or enforcing a right.
A creditor shows forbearance by temporarily suspending collection on a debt: The bank granted six months of forbearance on the mortgage.
More broadly, it describes tolerant endurance of difficulty or annoyance: Her forbearance with his constant lateness was remarkable.
