money
Medium of exchange
Money is a medium for exchange of value, represented concretely by bills and coins (Have you got any money on you?) and abstractly by accounts and credit.
The verbs most commonly used with money are raise and make.
To raise money is to collect enough of it to do something: They’re trying to raise money for a documentary about hippies.
To make money is not to manufacture it, but to receive it in exchange for something, or to realize a profit: Did you make any money when you sold your house?
Money is used in common phrases with a related meaning: marry money means marry someone rich.
In the money means in a profitable situation.
