authorization

Granted access rights

Authorization is official permission or approval to do something: You'll need authorization from the department head.

In computing and security, authorization determines what actions a user is permitted to perform after their identity has been verified.

The verb authorize and the act of granting permission share this sense of sanctioned access or action.
