open-mindedness
Welcoming unfamiliar perspectives
Open-mindedness is willingness to consider new ideas, perspectives, or experiences without reflexive rejection.
An open-minded person suspends judgment long enough to genuinely hear unfamiliar viewpoints: Her open-mindedness made her an excellent mediator.
The quality suggests intellectual flexibility rather than gullibility—being receptive without being uncritical.
