abolitionists

Anti-slavery crusaders

Abolitionists are people who advocate for the complete elimination of a practice or institution, most often slavery.

The term is strongly associated with the 19th-century movement to end slavery in the United States and British Empire: Frederick Douglass was among the most influential abolitionists.

Today the word applies to campaigns against other practices: prison abolitionists, death penalty abolitionists.
