Eleanor Roosevelt
Eleanor Roosevelt was the longest-serving First Lady of the United States, wife of President Franklin D.
Roosevelt from 1933 to 1945.
She transformed the traditionally ceremonial role into one of political influence, advocating for civil rights, women's rights, and the poor.
After FDR's death, she served as a United Nations delegate and chaired the committee that drafted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Her name evokes progressive activism and the expansion of what a political spouse could be: She's the Eleanor Roosevelt of the administration.
