tracts
Stretches of territory
Tracts are areas or stretches of something—land, water, or tissue: a tract of forest, the digestive tract, the respiratory tract.
The word emphasizes extent or continuity.
A tract is also a pamphlet or leaflet promoting a cause, especially religious: She handed out tracts on the street corner.
These two meanings have different origins.
