Netscape

Early web navigator

Netscape was a pioneering web browser company in the 1990s, responsible for Netscape Navigator—the dominant browser before Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

The company's 1995 IPO helped launch the dot-com boom.

Netscape became shorthand for early internet culture: Back in the Netscape days, you had to wait five minutes for a page to load.

The browser faded after the "browser wars" with Microsoft.
