AIM
AOL's chat service
AIM was America Online's instant messaging service, dominant in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Users would sign on with screen names, build buddy lists, and communicate in real time—a precursor to modern texting: We used to chat on AIM for hours after school.
The service shut down in 2017. (Lowercase aim means to direct toward a target.)
