bookmark

Reader's place marker

A bookmark is a strip of paper, ribbon, or other material placed between pages to mark one's place in a book.

The word extends to saved links in web browsers—digital markers for returning to specific pages: I bookmarked that article to read later.

To bookmark something is to save its location for future reference.
