Mountain View behemoth
Google is the dominant internet search engine, and by extension the technology company that created it.
Founded in 1998, it became so synonymous with internet searching that its name became a verb.
The company expanded into email, maps, video, mobile operating systems, and cloud services.
Google it has become shorthand for looking something up online. (Lowercase google is the verb meaning to search online.)
