Mozilla

Firefox browser maker

Mozilla is the name of a nonprofit organization best known for creating the Firefox web browser.

The name originated as the internal codename for Netscape Navigator in the 1990s, a playful blend of "Mosaic killer"—Mosaic being an early web browser—and Godzilla.

Mozilla later became shorthand for the open-source community and projects that emerged when Netscape released its browser code publicly in 1998.
