burst

Pop under pressure

Burst means to break open or apart suddenly, usually from internal pressure: The pipe burst in the cold.

Things burst when they can no longer contain what's inside—balloons, dams, bubbles.

The word extends to sudden releases of any kind: a burst of laughter, a burst of energy, a burst of gunfire.

To burst into a room is to enter suddenly; to burst into tears is to begin crying abruptly.

I'm bursting means urgently needing to urinate.

The past tense is also burst, not bursted.
