stenosis

Abnormal passage constriction

Stenosis is the abnormal narrowing of a passage or opening in the body.

Medical usage specifies the location: spinal stenosis, aortic stenosis, pyloric stenosis.

The narrowing restricts flow—of blood, cerebrospinal fluid, or digestive contents—and often requires surgical intervention to widen the constricted area.
