restenosis
Vessel narrows again
Restenosis is the recurrence of abnormal narrowing in a blood vessel or heart valve after corrective treatment.
The term appears most often in cardiology, where arteries opened by angioplasty or stents may narrow again as scar tissue forms: The patient developed restenosis six months after the procedure.
The prefix re- indicates the narrowing has returned.
