aneurysm

Weak vessel bulge

An aneurysm is a bulge in the wall of a blood vessel, caused by weakness in the arterial lining.

If an aneurysm ruptures, the internal bleeding can be fatal—particularly with brain aneurysms.

Figuratively, to have an aneurysm is to react with explosive anger or panic: My mom's going to have an aneurysm when she sees this mess.
