lumen

Cavity or candela

Lumen has two distinct technical meanings.

In anatomy, a lumen is the hollow space inside a tube-shaped structure: the lumen of a blood vessel, the lumen of the intestine.

In physics, a lumen is a unit measuring the total amount of visible light emitted by a source: a 60-watt bulb produces about 800 lumens.

Brighter lights have higher lumen counts.
