ultrasound
Womb viewing technology
Ultrasound is sound at frequencies too high for human hearing, above about 20,000 hertz.
In medicine, ultrasound refers to imaging technology that bounces these high-frequency waves off internal structures to create pictures: The ultrasound showed the baby was healthy.
The procedure itself is also called an ultrasound or sonogram.
Ultrasound has industrial applications in cleaning, welding, and detecting flaws in materials.
