cyclorama

Infinite background illusion

A cyclorama is a large curved backdrop, typically painted to represent the sky or a distant landscape, used in theater and photography to create the illusion of infinite space or horizon.

In stage design, it wraps around the back and sometimes sides of the set, often lit to suggest different times of day or weather conditions.

The term also refers to panoramic paintings displayed in circular rooms, popular in the 19th century for depicting battle scenes or cityscapes.
