Back-and-forth discussion

Dialogue is conversation between two or more people, or the exchange of ideas between groups: The two sides agreed to enter into dialogue.

In fiction and drama, dialogue refers specifically to the spoken words of characters, as distinct from narration or stage directions: The script had sharp dialogue but a weak plot.

The verb means to engage in discussion: Management agreed to dialogue with the union.
