playwright
Theater script creator
A playwright is a person who writes plays for theatrical performance.
The word combines "play" with "wright," an old term for a craftsman or maker (as in wheelwright or shipwright)—someone who constructs plays rather than merely writing them.
Shakespeare remains the most performed playwright in the English language.
