scene

Where action unfolds

A scene is a place where something happens: the scene of the crime, the scene of the accident.

In drama and film, a scene is a unit of action in one location—several scenes make an act.

To make a scene is to create a public disturbance through emotional outburst.

A scene is also a sphere of activity or interest: the music scene, the downtown art scene, that's not really my scene.

Behind the scenes means out of public view, where the real work or decisions happen.
