see
Take in visually
In more than a millennium of usage, see has retained its core meaning: perceive with the eye.
All of its related meanings have developed out of this sense: experience (Last year the company saw huge profits), understand (I don’t see your point), accept (I can’t see living here another year), and insure (See that no one gets in without paying).
See differs from look in not having intention associated with it. The inflections of see (saw, seen) do not fit the pattern of any other English verb.
