spectacle

Striking public scene

A spectacle is something visually striking that draws attention—a public display, performance, or remarkable sight: The fireworks were quite a spectacle.

The word often carries a note of excess or theatricality: He made a spectacle of himself at the party.

In the plural, spectacles are eyeglasses, now somewhat old-fashioned except in British usage.

To view something through the spectacle of a particular lens is to see it filtered by that perspective.
