sightlessness
Absence of vision
Sightlessness is the state of being unable to see—blindness.
The word appears in literary or formal contexts more than everyday speech: The sightlessness that came with age forced him to rely on audiobooks.
It can also describe figurative blindness—an inability or refusal to perceive what should be obvious.
