touch

Sense through contact

Touch has mainly to do with physical sensations that arise because of our sensitive nerve endings.

The sense of touch enables us to feel these.

When you touch someone or something (literally), a part of your body, usually a hand or finger, contacts them.

To touch someone figuratively is to affect their emotions, usually in a positive way.

When physical objects touch, they are in contact with each other.

A touch can also be a small thing you do to improve something: The scratch in the wood needs a touch up.
