eyes

Hurricane's calm centers

Eyes are the organs of sight, set in sockets on either side of the nose.

The word extends to anything resembling an eye: the eye of a needle, the eye of a storm, the eye of a potato.

To eye something is to look at it with interest or suspicion: She eyed the contract warily.

Eyes often stand for attention or judgment: all eyes were on her, in the eyes of the law.

To see eye to eye is to agree.
