lens
Curved focusing glass
A lens is a curved piece of transparent material—typically glass or plastic—that bends light to focus or disperse it.
Lenses are essential to eyeglasses, cameras, microscopes, and telescopes.
The eye's own lens focuses images on the retina.
Figuratively, a lens is any framework through which something is viewed or interpreted: examining history through a feminist lens, the lens of personal experience.
Contact lenses sit directly on the eye.
