printing-house

Where publications originate

A printing-house is an establishment where printing is done—a print shop or publishing facility.

The term is old-fashioned, largely replaced by printing press, print shop, or publisher: Benjamin Franklin worked in a printing-house as a young man.

The hyphenated form is traditional but increasingly appears as two words.
