A chapbook is a small, inexpensive booklet, typically containing poems, stories, or essays.
Historically, chapbooks were sold by traveling peddlers and featured popular tales, ballads, or religious tracts.
Today the term usually refers to short poetry collections, often self-published or from small presses: She published her first chapbook after winning the contest.
