posters
Tacked-up advertisements
Posters are large printed sheets designed for public display, typically featuring images and text to advertise events, promote causes, or decorate walls.
A movie poster promotes a film; a wanted poster seeks a fugitive.
The term extends to anyone who posts—someone who contributes messages to online forums or social media: The poster asked for advice on home repairs.
To be the poster child for something is to typify or represent it prominently.
